Myvatn, is a lake in Iceland well known for the rich fauna of birds, especially the water ducks. The lake and the surrounding area are known as Myvatn and is a place that is well known for its natural splendors as well as for great outdoor recreational possibilities. Myvtan is a place that seems virgin and is a treat for explorers. There are around 450 inhabitants in Myvatn of which around 200 live in the village Reykjahlio. The residents were depending on trout fishing and farming but in the past few years the chief occupation is working in the diatomite factors which was long established and also the geothermal power plant at Krafla which provides occupation to many locals. Today, there are cheap hotels and also restaurants, camping sites, and other facilities for the travelers.
