The Old Town |
|
| Located between Reykjavik’s harbor and a large pond known as Tjörn is the city’s old town. This center of cultural and historical significance presents visitors with a many activities and places of interest. Once you are inside the Old Town, you will immediately glance by and be greeted by some of the most colorful houses in Iceland. And any visit to this picturesque area in Reykjavik would not be complete without going to Austurvöllur, a square in the old town. Surrounding this town square are other significant sites such as the Parliament Building of Althing, and Domkirkja, the oldest church in the city. Guests can also find lodging in Hotel Borg, a famous inn located within the area. Other scenic views that can be found in this place include the waterfront, which is at the east of the city’s port and for a bit of entertainment and to experience Reykjavik’s popular night life, visitors can check out the local dance club situated in the town’s square.
