The Perlan

Situated on the hill Öskjuhlķš, The Perlan presents yet another tourist attraction in the city of Reykjavik. Originally designed by Ingimundur Sveinsson, The Perlan, whose name in English means “The Pearl”, stands 84.3 feet and is considered to be a landmark building in Iceland.
On the ground floor of The Perlan, guests can view the Winter Garden, a 10000-cubic meter exhibition space where tours around the building usually begin. Here, various expos have been held as well as concerts by artists such as Emiliana Torrini. Moving on to the fourth floor, guests can marvel at the city’s most picturesque scenery through the building’s viewing deck. This area presents several telescopes with recorded descriptions in a number of languages to provide guests with a breath-taking and educational look at the landscapes and neighboring sights of interest around the structure.
In addition, “The Pearl” also has some of its shops where visitors can browse through and purchase various types of products such as Gourmet shop showcasing food products like oysters, mushrooms, beef, and smoked salmon, Souvenir shop with items like playing cards, shirts, statues, and Viking helmets, and the Christmas shop has the Icelandic Christmas artwork and images of Icelandic Julelads. And for guests who are eager to try authentic Icelandic food and drinks, there is a revolving restaurant on the top floor of the aforesaid establishment where top Icelandic chefs offer a wide array of high-quality cuisine.
