Located on the west of Borgarfjörður is a famous outdoor attraction known as Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The area within this peninsula is home to many national sites; hence, it has earned the title “Iceland in Miniature”. What's more is that this peninsula offers a very relaxing atmosphere to guests who just would like to escape the busy metropolis and exhausting day he had.

Upon arrival to Snaefellsnes Peninsula, guests would immediately be greeted by various geological wonders and spectacular scenery. One of the most popular is Snæfellsjökull, a volcano which is considered as one of the symbols of Iceland. With a picturesque glacier at its peak, this volcano stands as the highest mountain in the peninsula. In addition, guests can also view the enchanting lava caves, mineral hot springs, and waterfalls in the peninsula. All of which offer a number of activities such as sightseeing and capturing of images, as well as hiking and swimming. With regards to the latter activity, individuals may choose to bathe or swim in the area’s more heated natural spas or in its cooler springs. For people who are planning to stay for few days in the peninsula, there is the Guesthouse Langaholt, which is situated on a long sandy beach with a view to the abovementioned volcano. This lodging establishment offers all the modern amenities while retaining a simple and rustic environment. Snaefellsnes Peninsula also has a few fishing villages with some dining establishments and inns.
